WHEN IM NO LONGER HERE

The only reason I try so hard,
to leave a light, to drop my guard,
is not for praise, or pride, or grace,
but for the ones who’ll take my place.
So when I’m gone, and breath has stilled,
they’ll love my kids, with warmth I filled.
Not for who I was, but what I gave,
a kindness left for them to save.
